History Day

The Fontana Unified School District History Day project provides students an exciting way to study the History and Social Science Content Standards.  Students learn about issues, ideas, people and events and demonstrate their understanding through creative and original ways, as an individual or as a part of a team.

The Fontana Unified School District History Day project is a K-12 showcase event, leading up to the San Bernardino County History Day event.  Students in grades 4-12 compete for a chance to enter the California History Day competition sponsored by the Constitutional Rights Foundation and the California Department of Education in conjunction with National History Day.

In support of Goal #1, the objectives of History Day are:

  • To support high academic standards
  • To support active learning as an effective instructional tool
  • To encourage students to gain a deeper understanding of the discipline
  • To provide students the opportunity to develop critical thinking and practical skills
  • To recognize student's accomplishments and excellence
