A Message From Our Principal
Mr.
Ricardo Chaparro started as Principal of Live Oak Elementary in the
Summer of 2007. Mr. Chaparro has over 18 years of experience
in public education. Prior to coming to Live Oak Elementary,
he was a teacher in the Pomona and Chino Valley School Districts.
He has been a school administrator since the summer of 2000.
He has teaching experience in first, second, third and fifth grades.
He has also taught ESL adult school, severely handicapped classes
and Emotionally Disturbed classes in Special Education Schools in
the Los Angeles County. Before going into education he was an
assistant pastor for missions and Hispanic ministries at Calvary
Chapel of West Covina.
Mr. Chaparro is a graduate of Azusa Pacific University and Cal Poly
Pomona. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Theology from Azusa
Pacific University, a teaching credential from Cal Poly Pomona and a
Masters Degree in Education and an administrative credential from
Azusa Pacific University. He is a native of Colombia and
before coming to the United States in 1984, he attended the
University of Bogota (Tadeo Lozano) where he was seeking a major in
Marine Biology. After arriving in the States, he attended
Mount San Antonio College for a year and a half in order to learn
English fluently enough to continue his education.
Mr.
Chaparro has been married to his wife, Bobbi, an Azusa Pacific
University graduate, since 1990 and has four children: Randy,
Marissa, Ciara, and Josiah. He presently lives in Rancho
Cucamonga and has been actively involved with his local church
"Water of Life" for 14 years. His hobbies include: tent
camping, foreign travel, taking pictures, working on cars, home
remodeling, and taking care of his cats and dogs.
Mr. Chaparro loves being a principal. Being around children,
guiding and monitoring their education is one of his passions.
As a school administrator he never has a boring day. He roams
the entire school all day and loves to do lunch line duty because he
gets to see every child's face and is able to talk to them while
they are in line. He wants to see every student succeed
academically and become an outstanding citizen as they grow.
