Chris Ward Named Oleander Teacher of the Year
It is an honor and privilege to announce that Chris Ward was selected as
Teacher of the Year at Oleander Elementary School. Mr. Ward has been a teacher at
Oleander since 1996. During those years, he has taught 3rd and 4th grades. During the last three years, Mr. Ward has been the Grade Level Leader for fourth
grade. One of his greatest strengths is his utilization of technology within the
classroom. Mr. Ward has become very adept at developing lessons that are
engaging for students with the Smart Board. The lessons are aligned to their
Open Court program and its components. Furthermore, he has become adept at
integrating Accelerated Reader and Accelerated Math into the program. Utilizing
these two programs has helped him differentiate his lessons to meet the needs of
his learners.
In addition to his responsibility as teacher, Mr. Ward has also served as the
Intervention Coordinator for our Intermediate Grades. As the Intervention
Coordinator, Mr. Ward developed a program where students received intensive
interventions in specific strands.
