Noel Rodriguez Named Oleander Teacher of the Year

Chris WardOleander is pleased to announce that Noel Rodriguez was chosen by his peers as Teacher of the Year for the 2009-2010 school year. This is Mr. Rodriguez’ sixth year as a teacher, and third as a third grade teacher.  Prior to teaching third grade, Mr. Rodriguez taught fourth grade.

As a teacher, Mr. Rodriguez uses a variety of instructional strategy to help his students meet their grade level standards.  His interaction with his students is positive, and builds a community of learners willing to take risks in their learning.  His knowledge of Open Court, and his use of technology help to keep students actively engaged in their learning.

In addition to being an exemplary teacher, Mr. Rodriguez is the ultimate professional.  This was evident in his willingness to be the schools English Language Learner Site Monitor, and his willingness to provide Staff Development to his colleagues on using the Smart Board.  Additionally, he found time in his schedule to provide before school tutoring to students struggling in reading.

In spite of his busy schedule, Mr. Rodriguez is always looking for trainings that will help him grow professionally.  He recently completed the 5 Day GLAD training, and has attended a variety of staff developments.

We are proud to have Mr. Rodriguez named as Teacher of the Year for Oleander Elementary.
