Dear Families,
Vacation breaks can be a double edged sword. While students
and staff are pleased to have the opportunity to rest and become
reinvigorated, we don’t want students to lose their focus and the
learning that has occurred prior to the break. During the
break, there are many activities you can do with your child to
ensure that they stay focused, and have fun while they learn:
- Have your child read at least 30 minutes (minimum) everyday. The new
library on Sierra has a great selection of books to choose from.
After they read, ask some simple questions like who were the
characters and what the setting was. Then ask more difficult
questions such as, if they could change the ending of the book, how
would they change it and why.
- Have your child keep a journal during vacation, and have them write
what they did daily. Have them provide details.
