School Police Department
The FUSD School Police Services was established in 1985 to create a safe and tranquil environment for the students, teachers and staff of the Fontana Unified School District. The men and women of the Fontana School Police Department have accepted this duty with an unyielding commitment that has not wavered for twenty-one years. This dedication to public safety is the standard for the seventh largest school police department in the State of California.
The department has grown considerably since then, and the authorized strength is now 19 sworn officers and 8 support employees. The department functions Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 11:00pm, year round. Officer off-duty hours are covered by the SP&I Group, Inc. who provide security patrol of the district properties. Officers function as peace officers and perform various general law enforcement duties and services for staff, students, and other citizens. There are School Resource Officers assigned to the district's four full-size high schools.
The support staff performs valuable duties such as dispatching, alarm monitoring, fingerprinting, and other various functions in support of field personnel. The department is certified by the California Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST).
