Community Based English Tutoring Program

Community Based English Tutoring (CBET) is a program that provides English Language instruction to parents and members of the community who pledge to provide English Language tutoring to students who are designated English Language Learners (ELL).  The program is funded by the California Department of Education based on the number of ELL students reported by the district.

Philosophy

We believe parents are the most important teachers in their child's life.  We are committed to equipping parents with the necessary skills and confidence to effectively contribute to their child's education

Who May Participate

The primary participants are parents of our district's children who are designated English Language Learners.  The intent is to help adults who will tutor their children as they learn English.

Current Classes

CBET Classes are designed to teach parents Basic English and terminology used in our school system.  Class meetings are tailored to accommodate parents' busy schedules.  They are conveniently offered biweekly both mornings and evenings throughout the FUSD schools.  Free babysitting services are provided for children three and older.  Classes are taught by a certificated teacher.

  • How the school system works

  • Accessing school and community services
