Important News for 2008-09 School Year

Beginning with the 2008-09 school year, all high schools in the Fontana Unified School District will start school in August.  A.B. Miller, Fontana, Kaiser, Summit, Birch and Citrus High Schools will all start school on August 11, 2008, and end on June 1, 2009.  The District wants you to know about this change now, so you can plan for summer vacations and activities in 2008.

By starting school on August 11, 2008:

  • Students will have one full week off at Thanksgiving (November 24-28, 2008)
  • Winter Break will be three weeks (December 22, 2008 to January 9, 2009)
  • There will be more instructional days before State and AP Testing
  • First semester ends the last day of school before Winter Break

 A Message From Our Principal

We are very proud of the accomplishments of our staff and students at Citrus High School.  The mission of our school has three parts:  1)  Facilitate students in recovering credits and graduate, 2) Improve student attendance, and 3) Help students foster a positive connection to school.  Citrus High School is a true alternative education program, integrating numerous interventions on one campus.  I feel Citrus is a school that serves specific needs in the Fontana Unified School District.  Due to the hard work and support of the Board of Education, District Administrators, and Teachers, we feel we are accomplishing our goals.

At this time Citrus has an enrollment of approximately 500 students. The student population is a rich mixture of 82.1% Hispanic, 7.81% African-American, 7.5% White/Non-Hispanic, and 2.59% other ethnic backgrounds.

We made great strides in our student achievement.  Our API growth was 103 for the 2008 year.
