Our Mission Statement
To provide an environment where children can grow
intellectually into well-rounded individuals who are imaginative,
self-disciplined, self-confident, flexible thinkers, and ready to succeed in the
twenty-first century.
A Message From our Principal
I am very pleased to announce that Chaparral
Elementary School met all 21 Adequate Yearly Progress (otherwise known as AYP)
goals set forth by the Federal Government this year. Meeting all 21 goals is the
first step our school needed to take in order to exit from Program Improvement.
I am anticipating that at this time next year I will once again share that we
met all 21 AYP goals and due to the fact that we met all of our goals for two
consecutive years we will have exited from Program Improvement. It will take a
tremendous amount of hard work to meet all 21 goals, but, we can accomplish
this.
One of the most important things you can do as parents to help us meet all of
our goals is to make sure your child is here every day. Last year our average
daily attendance rate was 96.38%. My goal for this year is to have a daily
attendance rate of 97%.
The support of our families and community is important to us at Chaparral
Elementary School. We recognize that it takes every adult in the community to
assure each student’s success. We welcome volunteers to assist with school
activities. If you have concerns about your child’s academic progress please be
sure to share them with their teacher. More then anything, encourage you child
to their best every day. I have found in my fourteen years in education that a
word of positive encouragement can go a long way in helping someone reach their
full potential.
The roadrunner is our mascot. Like the roadrunner, our school is small, but
mighty. We are the smallest school in the district. The excellent quality of our
instructional program is a reflection of a highly trained and committed staff,
who are dedicated to providing a positive school experience in an environment
that nurtures and meets each child’s educational needs. Our instructional
program is based on state standards and high expectations for academic
performance. We strive to maintain a safe campus that promotes personal
responsibility for student behavior and mutual respect for all members of our
learning community. We are proud of our accomplishments and collectively strive
each year for increased academic excellence.
