Welcome to Cypress Elementary School. We of the Cypress Elementary Staff
are committed to providing our students with instruction and services focused on
meeting the needs of our diverse student population. We work to build upon
the students' strengths to ensure that they will have a positive school
experience and develop a lifelong desire for knowledge. We work to help
every individual Climb Higher and Shine Brighter; to achieve academically and
become productive citizens in the future.
One great measure of our success is evidenced by Cypress Elementary School
meeting all of its API and AYP goals for 2006-2007. This happened because
of the combined and dedicated efforts of Cypress families and staff focusing on
individual student needs and progress.
In addition to high quality instruction provided in classrooms, students and
families also benefit from an open computer lab, after-school academic programs,
daytime tutoring for specific students, and a number of other programs.
When visiting Cypress, we are confident that you will find a school that
demonstrates positive change, a faculty that is professionally skilled and
personally committed to meeting the educational needs of students, and a student
population that is excited and motivated to do well.

Cypress Elementary School is one of twenty-nine elementary schools in the
Fontana Unified School District. It is a single-track, year-round school
with approximately 852 students in preschool through grade five. The Cypress population is a rich mixture of
83.7% Hispanic, 6.4% Caucasian, 5.9% African-American, 2.6% Other ethnic
backgrounds and 1.6% Multiple or no response.
Cypress Elementary School is fortunate to have parents who are involved in the education of their
children through volunteering in classrooms and participating in the School Site Council (SCC), Bilingual
Advisory Council (BAC) and the Parent Teacher Association (PTA).
Our PTA provides funding for field trips, student recognition, classroom projects, and programs which help
students and families in need. At Cypress we believe that all
students can learn. Instruction is focused on students success and guided by the California Curriculum
Frameworks, the document It's Elementary, district guidelines
and our school plan.
Integrated, activity-based instruction is emphasized across the curriculum, with
emphasis placed on early literacy development and hands-on, manipulative
experiences in all subject areas, but especially in Math and Science.
Our 2006-07 School Accountability Report Card is available
online.
