Welcome Locust Lions to the 2007-08 school year!
We at Locust Elementary School are so excited for the upcoming school year.
Whether this is your first year or you have been part of the Locust Lion’s Den
for years, we are happy to have you with us.
We are highly anticipating a wonderful year and we have great plans for the
educational environment at Locust Elementary School. Our academic program
is rigorous and we adhere to the California state standards for our
instructional programs. The staff at Locust is a unique group of
professionals and we have high expectations for ALL students. We are
committed to the purpose that every child can and will learn.
Our mission statement at Locust is: “To provide ALL students with an
equitable and high quality education, thereby developing the foundation for them
to become compassionate, responsible and successful members of society.”
At Locust, we encourage your involvement in our school via volunteering through
the PTA, School Site Council, classroom assistance and tutoring, providing
resources as needed and various other volunteer opportunities. Please be a
partner with us at Locust as we teach your child to be successful.

Locust Elementary School is one of twenty-nine elementary
schools in the Fontana Unified School District. Locust is a single-track,
year-round school with approximately 617 students in preschool through sixth
grade. Locust’s student population is a mixture of 80.1% Hispanic, 8.6%
Caucasian, 7.8% African American, 1.4% Multiple or no response, 1.1% Asian, and
1% Other ethnic backgrounds.
Locust continues to enjoy the active support of parents.
The PTA raises funds annually for a variety of projects including field trips
and end-of-the year recognition of student successes. The School Site Council
and English Language Advisory Committee also continue to be an integral part of
site decisions. Parents are encouraged to volunteer in classrooms. Locust has
offered both the Bright Start Family Literacy Program and the CBET language
acquisition program to parents this year.
Locust’s mission remains to provide all students with an
equitable and high quality education thereby developing the foundation for them
to become compassionate, responsible and successful members of society.
