The Mango Elementary School faculty and administration are dedicated to providing an
environment where all children can grow educationally, socially and emotionally. We
strive to provide a safe and nurturing environment where all children can achieve their
maximum potential. An important goal is maintaining a high-quality educational program
that prepares students for the 21st century. You will find that Mango has
created an environment where children are safe and eager to learn with a dedicated
family and staff committed both personally and professionally.

Mango Elementary School is one of twenty-nine elementary schools in the Fontana
Unified School District. It is a single-track, year-round school with
approximately 660 students in preschool through grade five. The Mango population is a rich mixture of
86% Hispanic, 7.1% African-American, 3.9% White, 1.9% Other ethnic backgrounds
and 1.1% Multiple or no response.
Forty-five percent of our students require primary language support to be
successful in school. Our School is supported by the parents of the PTA, School
Site Council, English Learner Advisory Committee, and classroom parent
volunteers.
Our instruction focuses on student success for all and is guided by the California
State Standards, district guidelines, and the
Comprehensive School Plan. Curriculum instruction is integrated in all the content
areas and focuses on early literacy and mathematics. Open Court 2002 is
the adopted text for language arts. Scott Foresman is the adopted text for
math. The mission of the school, as
adopted by the staff (teachers, administrators, classified, Site Council and
parents) is: Mango Elementary School is dedicated to providing all students
with the opportunities, environment and materials to develop the whole child
academically, socially, and emotionally so that they make their place in the world as a
productive citizen.
In its effort to achieve this Mission, the school works closely with several
community groups: The Fontana Teachers' Association, the City of Fontana through the
Parks and Recreation Department and the Performing Arts Center, Fontana Police
Department, Central Valley Fire Department and local businesses.
In spring 2007-08, Mango was awarded The
Best in the West Award
from the Los Angeles County Office of Education for our
