Welcome from
Mr. Worthington

The purpose of summer school is to provide students with opportunities to meet established standards and graduation requirements.  Summer school will focus on four areas:

  1. Credit Recovery – This is an opportunity for students who have failed to earn needed credits the chance to recover them.
  1. Skills Enhancement – Students will be afforded the chance to improve specific skill areas such as math and reading.
  1. Advanced Credit – This is an opportunity for students to take courses early in order to allow more advanced coursework or elective opportunities during the coming year.  The offerings for advanced credit are limited to students who have passed all their classes successfully.  Advanced credit classes include:  Senior English, Economics, American Government, US History, World History and Biology.  Enrollment for advanced credit courses are being handled through the counselors.

A.B. Miller High School is proud of the summer school program that has been offered in the past and will continue in this tradition.  Our goal is to continue to provide a safe and academically challenging environment for all students.  If we can be of any assistance or answer any questions, please feel free to call and speak to your child’s counselor, or myself at 357-5814.

Things to Know

  1. Summer School is a PRIVILEGE. Violations of school and classroom rules will not be tolerated.  A violation of school or classroom rules will result in the student being dropped from the current session.
  2. Summer School classes are conducted at a faster pace.  This does not mean that important material is left out of the class.  Success in the summer school program will depend on a students ability to work independently, so expect to do as much or more homework than the regular year.
  3. All Students must display their A.B. Miller I.D's while on campus.  Any student who does not will be dropped from summer school after their first warning.
