On June
1, 2005, the Dedication Ceremony was held for Fontana Unified School
District's eighth and newest middle school, Wayne
Ruble Middle School.
After Superintendent Dr. Charles D. Milligan's welcome and opening remarks,
Principal Crystal Whitley took over the duties of master of ceremonies.
Mrs. Whitley introduced the many dignitaries in attendance, including:
Frank Stallworth, representative from Senator Nell Soto's office; Raquel
Garcia, representative from Supervisor Paul Biane's office; Joy Elliot,
representative from Supervisor Josie Gonzales's office; Congressman Joe
Baca, Jr.; Dr. Herb Fischer, San Bernardino County Superintendent of
Schools; Debbie Brazille, Deputy City Management for the City of Fontana;
Fontana Police Chief Larry Clark; FUSD Board Members, district and county administration, as well
as the school's namesake, Dr. D. Wayne Ruble.
During the Dedication, Dr. Ruble was praised by the many dignitaries
at the ceremony. He was presented with certificates of appreciation,
plaques for his contributions to education and accolades from all those in
attendance. The electives classes at Ruble Middle School presented him
with gifts: a freehand drawing of Dr. Ruble from the art class; a
quilt sewn by the sewing class; and the school's inaugural yearbook from the
ASB. Dr. Milligan also presented Dr. Ruble with biographical keepsake
album.
Ruble
Middle School opened in October of 2004 by Principal Crystal Whitley and a
dedicated staff. The school has continued its construction throughout the
2004-2005 school year and is expected to be complete by June of 2005. Ruble
Middle School is intended to serve over 1400 students. The nearly 25 acre-site
is located at 6762 Juniper Avenue and was opened. The school, designed by HMC
Architects, features an attractive use of earth tone masonry in a modern
architectural style. The contractor for the construction project is Woodcliff
Corporation.
