“Orff-Schulwerk is Arts Education!” The Inland Counties Chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association is an organization which promotes music and movement education through the philosophy of the strangely-named “Orff Schulwerk,” an arts-infused approach to educating people of all ages in moving, singing, reading, speaking, improvising, performing and collaborating in music, dance, drama and, even, the visual arts. The master teacher of the Schulwerk takes students/participants in a joyful ride exploring the voice, body, mind and spirit, while engaging in artful experiences. At the same time, practitioners of Orff-Schulwerk make connections between the California State Standards in Music, Dance and Theater and Language Arts, English Language Development and Social Studies. Our elementary general music teachers have each received one or more levels of teacher training in Orff-Schulwerk at accredited universities. For more information go to www.aosa.org. The Inland Counties Chapter American Orff-Schulwerk Association offers Saturday Music and Movement Workshops for Teachers at the University of Redlands, Watchorn Hall. All workshop fees pre-paid by Fontana Unified School District. Any employee may attend workshops for FREE! For more information, contact Patricia O’Herron, FUSD Music Specialist and ICCAOSA President at oherpa@fusd.net or go to www.inlandorff.org. Click here for the 2008-09
