Fohi STAR Productions Presents "Stage Door"

Fontana High School S.T.A.R. Productions, in cooperation with FUSD Stage Craft ROP, is proud to present Edna Ferber and Goerge F. Kaufman’s “Stage Door,” the play on which the classic Kathryn Hepburn movie is based.

The show opens in the New York City boarding house of Mrs. Orcutt (played by Amantha Hastings), where the hopes and ambitions of many wanna-be actresses who have come there to pursue careers are hilariously revealed.  The central plot has to do with the courageous Terry Randall (Rebecca Maloney), who fights against discouragement for a position in the theatre.  One of her fellow aspirants, Kaye Sawyer (Laura Martinez), gives up in dispair; Louise Mitchell (Debonee Long), gets married; and one, Jean Maitland (Mehr Bhatti), goes into the movies; but Terry, with the help of idealistic David Kingsley (Jeremias Castaneda), sticks to her guns. Color and contrast are offered by Mattie (Kiara Dixon), the maid; Frank (Miguel Davalos), her husband; a few young men callers, Sam Hastings (Sean Hobbs) and Jimmy Devereaux (Giovani Dominguez), a movie magnate, Larry Westcott (Steven Lopez) and young Keith Burgess (Jorge Villegas), the playwright who “goes Hollywood.”

They are joined on stage by Paola Castro, Jasmine Sandoval, Jasmine Castro, Elysse Martinez, DeAnna Grove, Sara Clement, Raul Contreras, Misael Hernandez, Jose Rodriguez, Felipe Sanchez, Jovany Angel, Naomi Serrato, Brittany Mulgado, Irene Valencia and Reyna Mata.

Director, Lisa Sites, is a veteran of the stage having performed and taught in various venues around Southern California.  She is a drama and video teacher at Fohi and a S.T.A.R. Club advisor.  She is ably assisted by Paul Beal, technical director, and Lynn Beal, producer.  Filling the all important job of stage manager is Silvia Alaman and backstage manager Alex Viveros.

"Stage Door" will be performed on the Fohi stage on October 15 at 3:30 pm, October 16 & 17 at 7:00 pm and October 18 at 2:30 pm.  General admission tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the door.  Student and senior citizen tickets are $5.
