Mr. Michael McGirr

Welcome to the 23-24 school year at Citrus Elementary!!  We’re excited to welcome our students and families back to school!!  This year, we are working hard to continue closing the achievement gap.  To prepare them for college and career success, our students will do a lot of writing this year.  Our teachers plan together in their grade-level teams to ensure students have the best first instruction, incorporating real-world technologies, such as Microsoft Office programs.  To support our students, we utilize AVID Elementary strategies.  We also provide students all necessary school supplies, including their own laptops.

We believe that to support our student with academic success, we need to also teacher students behavioral and social-emotional skills.  Towards that end, we implement Positive Behavior Interventions & Support (PBIS) systems and use the Second Steps curriculum.  Our teachers hold daily Morning Meetings to promote classroom community, and we hold monthly college rallies on the last Wednesday of each month.

Our school mission is to “Equip all students with the skills they need for college & career success, & ensure that no one falls through the cracks.”  By working together as a team, we will do whatever it takes to provide our students with the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional skills they need to thrive in the 21st Century.
