A Message From Our Principal
Dear DHIA Families,
I am honored to be returning as your principal for the 2020-2021 school year. These are unprecedented times and please know that our entire staff has your child’s best interest in mind. We are committed to providing a world class education to all our scholars. We will continue to provide International Baccalaureate (IB) units (K-6) along with our Dual Immersion instruction in grades K-5. Our teachers have been preparing for this school year since we were notified that we would be returning to Distance Learning. Your child will be receiving a postcard in the mail from his/her teacher soon. You may also find out your child’s teacher via the Parent Portal Q on our district website.
Our teachers will meet with their classes via Microsoft TEAMS. We are excited that this year, we will be able to see our scholars. Each teacher will share the distance learning expectations, rules, and procedures during the first week of school. Students’ schedules will take place between 8:00-1:00. Each teacher will post their individual schedule. Student Support time will be between 1:00-2:00 and some students will be meeting with their teacher in small groups for additional support during this time.
Grab and Go meals will be passed out at DHIA on Wednesdays once school starts. Please check our social media pages, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter regularly for updates.
We are happy to report that Dolores Huerta International Academy has been recognized for our outstanding contribution of support and care during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic and our efforts to provide support to our students, families, and communities.
We are all looking forward to a productive year in our partnership with you.
