A Message From Our Principal

  • Dear DHIA Families,

We are now into our second semester of the school year. We are excited to share that we have sixteen scholars who have already read ONE MILLION words so far in the first half of the year. This is a great accomplishment! Congratulations to our MILLION WORD READERS! (Faricar A, Liam H, Tristan H, Tyler H, Cristian J, Miranda L, Sophie A, Vincent C, Sofia A, Monserrat O, Daniel D, Jesus S, Damian E, Cesar F, Hector M, Andrew L)

This was the first year that our school participated in the science fair, we are proud to announce that one of our scholars won a GOLD medal for his project at the District Level Science Fair. Congratulations to Andrew L!

We want to thank Ms. Delgado and Mr. Chi with their work in helping put on our very first science fair and for bringing C-Stem classes for our scholars in grades 4-6. Mr. Chi is also having several science clubs on Wednesdays for our scholars in these grades. Our scholars in grades K-3 are also benefitting from our STEAM teachers, Mrs. Hernandez and Mrs. Madero who meet with K-3 classes twice a week to provide STEAM lessons.

Thanks to everyone for following our safety protocols and wearing face masks while on campus, at arrival, and dismissal. This is helping everyone stay safe. Please always exercise safety in the parking lot, do not use your cell phones while in the pickup or drop off lane. Remember that the drop off should be quick so everyone can get through the line quickly. You should only be dropping students off by the MPR in the morning. Students should NOT be exiting vehicles in front of the kindergarten area.

We are finalizing our IB application for authorization as we speak. Our educators have worked diligently to complete our Program of Inquiry for all grades.

We are continuing our work with CABE. We have carried our Instructional Rounds where we analyzed our writing program and developed strategies to enhance our program.

Our scholars in grade 3-6 have access to Paper Tutoring if they need support with their homework assignments. Help is available 24/7 in English and in Spanish. Paper Tutoring is accessible through your child’s Classlink account.

Lastly, we are excited that our first class of Dual Language Immersion students will be promoting this year!

    Respectfully,

    Mrs. Loudermilk
