A Message From Our Principal

  • Dear Hemlock Families,

    I’d like to welcome you to the 2020-2021 school year at Hemlock Elementary School.  It is a privilege to serve as your Principal and I want you to know that we are committed to the growth and success of all students on this new adventure.  In addition, we understand that with new adventures, come new challenges and we are prepared to support our students and parents as we navigate distance learning.

    The first day of school is Monday, August 24th, 2020.  We are currently in Phase 2 of our reopening plan, which means that all students will begin instruction online.  Your student(s) will attend school Monday through Friday in a virtual classroom with their teacher through Microsoft TEAMS. Attendance will be taken daily, and students will receive grades for assignments, assessments, and participation. Instruction will take place synchronously (live teaching) and asynchronously (independent work).  Teachers will be available during asynchronous learning time to provide support and answer questions upon student/parent request. 

    Hemlock will be hosting a Virtual Parent Orientation on Thursday, August 20th, 2020 at 10:00 am through Microsoft TEAMS, where we will review distance learning guidelines, expectations, and answer questions.  The meeting will be recorded and posted to our website and TEAMS page if you are not able to attend. We will be sending out links for this meeting soon.

    Teachers will be hosting Back to School presentations, where students and parents will get the opportunity to connect with their teacher, prior to the first day of school.  Teachers will review topics that include, class syllabus, schedule, routines and procedures, curriculum, and grading policies. Back to School presentations will occur on Thursday, August 20th, following the Parent Orientation. Links will be provided soon:

    TK/Kinder:            10:30-11:00 am

    1st Grade &:           11:00-11:30 am

    SDC/Anderson

     2nd Grade:             11:30 am-12:00 pm

    3rd Grade & :         12:00-12:30 pm

    SDC/Praisuwan

     4th Grade:              12:30-1:00 pm

    4/5 Combo:           1:00-1:30 pm

    5th Grade:             1:00-1:30 pm

    Parents/Guardians have the ability to look up the teacher assigned to their child through Parent Q.

    Textbook and learning supplies distribution will take place on Friday, August 21st from 9:00 am- 3:00 pm. During this time, you may return textbooks and library books from the previous school year.  Students will also be able to pick up personal items that were left in the Spring, as well as, receive Spring pictures and yearbooks that were purchased.  If you are not able to come during the scheduled textbook and supply distribution, please contact our office for an appointment.

    If you need a laptop or hot spot, please call our office between the hours of 7:00 am-4:00 pm at (909) 357-5470 and we will be happy to assist you.

    As a reminder, when visiting our campus, please be sure to wear a face covering and practice social distancing.
