FUSD COVID-19 Updates

COVID-19 At-Home Rapid Tests for Students

  • Happy New Year Fontana Families,

The pandemic continues to be at the forefront of many of our lives.  In an effort to reduce COVID-19 transmission in schools, particularly as the Omicron variant surges nationwide, we ask that if your student exhibits any signs of illness or has recently been exposed to anyone who has tested positive for COVID, that you please keep them home until you are able to confirm they do not have COVID.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has provided the district with free, at-home antigen COVID-19 testing kits for our students. We are working with the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools as they await the testing supplies from the State.  State health officials have stressed that there is no statewide testing mandate, but families are encouraged to use the at-home tests as an added precaution as students return from winter break.

We expect to receive the testing kits at each school by Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Details of this distribution of these tests will be provided by your school as soon as possible.

In addition to these at home tests, Fontana Unified School District will continue to work with COVID Clinic to offer no-cost testing to our students, employees, families, and community. To register for a test visit: www.testfontana.com. Testing times and locations will resume as follows:

    Mondays through Thursdays

    • District Office: 7 am to 6:15 pm
    • High Schools: 12:15 to 6:15 pm

    Fridays

    • District Office and High Schools: 12:35 to 4:15 pm
    • Middle Schools: 7:35 to 11:15 am

Thank you for your continued partnership in keeping our schools safe.  We know that your efforts in helping keep our schools safe is essential to each student’s success.  We look forward to having you back on campus.
