Shadow Hills Elementary School

  • MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Welcome to Shadow Hills Elementary!  A University Education Begins Here...

Our team of educators and support staff are here to insure that every student receives an exceptional educational experience.  This year we will focus on writing skills through the use of Thinking Maps.  Thinking Maps provide a means for our students to organize their thoughts in a coherent and cohesive way that drastically improves their writing.

In the social development realm, we continue with our Character Counts program which focuses on developing character traits for success.  Starting in September we'll be focusing on a specific character trait per month.  Students will be honored for demonstrating the trait of the month.

Attendance is crucial for our success.  Therefore, we'll be counting on our Shadow Hills families to assist us in getting our students to school on time every single day.  There will be a drawing for two brand new bikes at the end of the first semester.  Students with perfect attendance, no tardy marks, or early release marks will be entered into the drawing.  Remember that we have Saturday school starting in September.  Through our Saturday school attendance recovery program students who are absent may receive credit for an absence through Saturday school.

We encourage parents and families to volunteer at Shadow Hills.  There are many ways to volunteer and make a difference in the lives of children.  Please stop by or contact me in order to discuss ways to volunteer or any other topic.

Let's, together, make this a most amazing year for our students.

    Respectfully,

    Joel Aviña, Principal
