A Message From Our Principal
July 28, 2020
Dear Maple Mustang Families:
First and foremost, I hope you and your families are staying safe and healthy. All FUSD students will receive online instruction when we begin the school year on August 24, 2020. No further action is required for your student to receive online instruction. All students in grades TK-12 will receive a laptop. Distribution information for TK-2 grade and 3-12 grade make up dates will be communicated within the next week.
Many parents have expressed interest in returning to in-person learning. While we are not able to offer this option at this time, we will transition to in-person instruction once it is safe to do so. With Flexible Distance Learning your student(s) will have daily live interaction with their Maple teacher(s) and will be assigned to the same teacher once students physically return to school. If you selected the Virtual Learning Program (VLP), students will be assigned to the district’s VLP teachers. At VLP, all learning is asynchronous, meaning that parents will help their students access the pre-recorded lessons at any time.
Please note that K-2 laptop checkout days will be announced on the district website soon. We will also share these dates with you through PeachJar and a phone dialer call. We are excited to see our students virtually on August 24th so that we can focus on connecting with our students and building strong literacy and math skills!
For students in grades 3-5 who didn’t receive a laptop in June, please come to Maple on August 6th between 8-12pm to check out your district issued laptop. If you have not already done so, you may also return textbooks and library books. Please remember to adhere to social distancing and wearing your masks. If you are sick, please stay home.
All parents must complete an Annual Parent Notification and Student Acceptable Use Agreement for their student. If these forms are not completed your child will not be able to access their laptop at home.
Fontana Unified School District Food and Nutrition department will continue to provide nutritional lunches for students. The closest location where families can pick up Grab-and-Go lunches are at Palmetto Elementary School (9325 Palmetto Avenue, Fontana) and Primrose Elementary School (751 N. Maple Avenue). The summer grab-n-go meal service will begin June 3. Distribution of meals will be on Wednesdays from 9:00 to 10:30a.m. and it will include 7 days' worth of food in one day. Our Jog-A-Thon event was a success! Students raised funds to help support school events and enjoyed a morning of friendly competitive jogging to see who ran the most laps! Thank you Maple families for all your support.
