Maple Elementary School

A Message From Our Principal

  • Wow! We’ve officially finished our first progress reports and conferences just happened.  Time is flying and our Mustangs have been having a wonderful time with our staff.  One thing new we started in October was our “Walk and Talk” program.  This allows for our students to talk to other peers in the morning and be healthy, but it is also a chance to get their brain engaged while their body is moving safely.  If you would like to assist us in the morning and would like to volunteer, please see any one of our wonderful office staff for the paperwork.

Some of our focus areas at Maple include instruction, attendance and PBIS. You might ask what is PBIS?  PBIS is short for Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports.  Here we focus on being safe, responsible and respectful and our amazing team has designed lessons for our students for positive behavior in all areas of the campus. We will have our official “kickoff” in January when we return from winter break and are students will have access to our Mustang moola and our student store once a month.

All of our teachers are working on visible learning.  Visible learning allows for students to know what standard they are working on and what it looks like to have success in that standard. If you want to know what your student is learning, ask them about their learning targets or simply, “What are you working on today?”

We have officially hit flu season and with that comes absences.  Unfortunately, a student must make up an absence, even with a doctors note.  The best part of our district is that students can make up an attendance from the beginning of the year until March 20th.  If your child comes to school every day throughout the entire school year they are eligible for the perfect attendance field trip at the end of the year.

We are always looking for ways to make Maple the best place in Fontana Unified!  If you would like to share a wonderful idea, suggestion, thought, please call me at 909-357-5670.
