Dear Parents and Community,
As the principal of Date Elementary, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another fantastic
school year filled with promise. We know that the past two years have been difficult but our
expectation for our students will still be the same, to provide them with the best academic instruction
in all core areas. We are all excited to have students in our classrooms, filling them with energy and
enthusiasm for learning. (Currently, all students, staff, and visitors will have the option to wear
or not wear a mask on campus. For additional guidance on our COVID safety protocols please
refer to our district and school website.) It is our goal to help every child feel welcomed,
connected, and part of the Date Elementary family. Additionally, we strive to challenge each student
to grow in his or her academic abilities and to become prepared with college and career readiness
skills. At Date Elementary we pride ourselves on having great teachers who spend hours planning
and creating classroom activities and lessons that engage our students in learning. Our teachers
utilize research-based best practices and analyze data to determine current skill levels and to set
goals for growth and improvement. As a reminder, for the second year in a row, we are a Platinum
award recipient for PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support), focusing on three schoolwide
expectations: being respectful, responsible, and engaged. Last, but not least, we are also a Leader in
Me school which allows us to practice the 7 habits of highly effective leaders with our students. This
year, we will expand on our beautification projects around campus that will show what our 7 habits
are all about and how they can make a positive impact in the lives of our students. The Leader in Me
philosophy helps support us in our mission to have students become critical thinkers, problem
solvers, and effective leaders in the classroom and in the community.
I am honored to continue to serve as the principal of Date Elementary. It is truly a privilege to be a
part of a community where parents, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build
positive relationships that support academic and social growth. I encourage all parents and
community members to become involved in school events and functions all year long including
becoming members of our PTA (see school website for more details). With your continued support,
we will make 2022-23, the best school year Date Elementary has ever seen!
If you need additional assistance or have any questions, please reach out to me or our Assistant
Principal, Dr. Guerra. Let’s make it another memorable year together!
Respectfully,
Robert Soriano
Principal
