Electronic Device Policy

  • Education Code 48901.5 – Electronic Devices:

The governing board of each school district, or its designee, may regulate the possession or use of any electronic signaling device that operates through the transmission or receipt of radio waves, including, but not limited to, paging and signaling equipment, by pupils of the school district while the pupils are on campus, while attending school-sponsored activities, or while under the supervision and control of school district employees.

Unauthorized use of an electronic device will cause the item to be confiscated and taken to Security Office A108..

Electronic communication devices MUST be in their case or otherwise concealed and turned off or placed on silent (NOT vibrate) mode.  This includes earphone/headphones.

IF WE HEAR IT, SEE IT, OR YOU USE IT, YOU LOSE IT!

Failure to do either of these will result in the item being confiscated

Consequences for Classroom Use of Electronic Devices

    1. Offense- Philosopher confiscates and turns device in to Grade Level Administrator
Parent or Legal Guardian can pick up item at the end of the day ( Parent I.D. required)
    2. Offense- Philosopher confiscates and turns device in to Grade Level Administrator. Parent or Legal Guardian can pick up item at the end of the day (Parent I.D. required)
    3. Offense- Philosopher confiscates and turns device in to Grade Level Administrator
Parent or Legal Guardian must meet with administrator or designee before device may be picked up (Parent I.D. required)
    4. Offense and Beyond - As Other Means of Correction have repeatedly failed to change behavior, consequences noted above may be implemented in addition to, but not limited to, placement in AIC or suspension.

Scholars who CHOOSE to come to the office rather than comply with a philosopher's request for an electronic item will incur additional consequences including but not limited to ASWP, AIC, or suspension.

Note:  Administrator's Offices may be closed without notice, students & parents will have to wait until the next business day to retrieve confiscated items.

At the end of the year, items that have not been picked up will be donated to charity.
