Adam Perez - Board President

Telephone (909) 275-6379 Adam Perez has proudly served on the Fontana Unified School District Board since 2018 and currently serves as the Board President. In addition to his leadership at the local level, Adam represents Fontana Unified as the State Delegate for the California School Boards Association (CSBA), advocating for policies and initiatives that enhance public education across the state. A lifelong advocate for youth development, Adam has worked tirelessly to create career pathways for students, helping many secure apprenticeships and high-paying jobs. His leadership has focused on preparing students for real-world success, whether they choose college, vocational training, or direct entry into the workforce.
A decorated U.S. Army combat veteran who served in Iraq and was promoted to sergeant, Adam brings a wealth of experience in leadership, discipline, and resilience to his role. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Adam faced homelessness upon returning home from serving overseas. This challenging period in his life motivated him to pursue higher education, earning an Associate’s Degree in Behavioral Science, a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. These academic achievements have equipped him with the tools to address challenges strategically and to serve as an advocate for those in need.
As a dedicated law enforcement officer and current detective, Adam has received numerous awards for his service, including the California Bear Award for excellence in CSI investigations, four consecutive CVC 10851 awards for recovering stolen vehicles, consecutive DUI enforcement awards (CVC 23152), and the prestigious Lifesaving Award. These accolades reflect his unwavering commitment to safety and justice within his community.
Adam’s leadership is driven by a deep commitment to the well-being of students and staff. He has championed mental health initiatives to ensure schools provide a supportive environment that fosters resilience, academic success, and overall wellness. Adam is also focused on collaboration with local elected officials to strengthen partnerships that benefit the community and enhance opportunities for students.
With a steadfast belief in the power of education to transform lives, Adam is dedicated to creating opportunities for every student. His work as Board President and State Delegate for CSBA reflects his unwavering commitment to building a brighter, more equitable future for all.
Adam is the Trustee Area 2 representative. His current term expires in 2026.
Danielle Holley - Board Vice President

Phone TBD Danielle Holley, a proud Fontana High School alumna and lifelong Fontana resident, has strong ties to the community. She was crowned Miss Fontana in 2001 and has served as an educator within Fontana Unified School District. A graduate of Cal State University San Bernardino with honors, she earned her BA in Liberal Studies in 2006, completed her teaching credential in 2007, and received a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction in 2010, where she was named the top student in her cohort.
Currently, Danielle is the Executive Director of the Fontana Chamber of Commerce, leveraging her experience in education, ministry, and public works contracting to support local businesses, foster partnerships, and drive economic growth. She is a dedicated community leader, serving as a Rotarian, board member of the Fontana Art Association, and Secretary of the Fontana Historical Society.
As a newly elected Trustee for FUSD Area 4, Danielle remains committed to enhancing education and advocating for small businesses. Married to her husband Josh for 15 years, she balances her professional achievements with a strong dedication to family and community.
Danielle is the Trustee Area 4 representative. Her current term expires in 2028.
Angel Ramirez - Board Member

Telephone TBD A proud product of Fontana's public schools, Angel Ramirez was elected to the Fontana Unified School Board in 2024. His deep roots in the community began as a student at Redwood Elementary, continued through Sequoia Middle School and Summit High School, and culminated with his graduation from Fontana High School.
While pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from California State University, San Bernardino, Angel remained in Fontana to serve the community that shaped him. As Assistant Band Director at Fontana High School (2017-2022), he led the band program's percussion section to numerous state-level achievements, including multiple first, second, and third-place finishes. Throughout his tenure, he established himself as a passionate advocate for student success and parent engagement.
Today, Angel serves as Director of Public Affairs for San Bernardino County Supervisor Jesse Armendarez while fulfilling his role on the school board. Drawing from his unique perspective as both a former student and educator, Angel brings a comprehensive understanding of Fontana's educational landscape to his position. His mission is clear: ensure every student in Fontana has access to the quality education and opportunities they deserve.

Mary Sandoval - Board Member

Ms. Sandoval, a resident of the City of Fontana for over 60 years, was elected to the Fontana Unified School District Board of Education in November 2014. she has been married for over 38 years to her husband Jesse and have 3 adult children; Jesus Jr., Maria Teresa, Maria Cecelia, son-in-law Willie and grandchildren: Giselle, Christopher and Francisco. Her family including: Uncles, Aunts, Brothers, Children, Son-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews have all attended and graduated from Fontana Schools. Ms. Sandoval's great-nieces and great-nephews are currently attending.She is retired from MTC Inland Empire Job Corps Center in San Bernardino. She was employed as an Academic Programs Administrator. Over the last 16 years, Ms. Sandoval has seen a decline in numeracy and literacy of the incoming students. This inspired her to run for Fontana Unified School District Board of Education.As an FUSD Board member, she is committed to:- Ensure all students are academically prepared for their future endeavors
- Ensure that all FUSD employees have the tools they need to be successful in performing their jobs
- Streamline the process for special needs students to receive services
Ms. Sandoval will always have an open door and lend a listening ear to all student and parent concerns.Mary is the Trustee Area 5 representative. Her current term expires in 2026.
Marcelino "Mars" Serna - Board Member

Marcelino “Mars” Serna has over 38 years of experience as a public servant in the areas of Education, Recreation, and Human Services. For the past 16 years, Mars has served the districts of San Bernardino City Unified School District (2006 to 2014), Fontana Unified School District (2015-2016), and currently the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools as the Family/Community Engagement Program Specialist supporting the 33 districts throughout the county with their respective family and community engagement initiatives. He also has served as an Adjunct Professor at San Bernardino Valley College in the Human Services Department where he taught Cultural Proficiency and Cross-Cultural Communication.
Mars has also served on a variety of community boards. He currently serves as member of the Governing Board of Education at Fontana Unified School District. He also serves on the Executive Board of the San Bernardino County Gangs & Drugs Taskforce, the Inland Empire Fatherhood Involvement Coalition, the San Bernardino County Mentoring Advisory Committee, and the Loma Linda University Health’s Community Benefit Advisory Council (CBAC). Along with serving on these boards, he was the co-founder of the Inland Empire Family Resource Center Coalition, where he served as Chairperson from 2008 to 2014.
Mars received an associate degree from Riverside Community College, a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration from California State University, San Bernardino, and his master’s degree from University of Redlands in Management. He is happily married to his wonderful wife Marissa and has (4) children, Jesse 36, Elena 34, Andrew 32, Issak 19 and is currently rearing his 15-year-old niece, Sophia. He also has (5) grandchildren.
Mars is the Trustee Area 1 representative. His current term expires in 2026.
