Heather Castillo Named 2018 Classified Employee of the Year
At the April 18, 2018 meeting of the Board of Education, the Classified Employee of the Year and nominees were recognized for their outstanding work and dedication. These recipients represent the hundreds of Fontana Unified School District's classified employees who help provide safe, clean, and productive environments for the students in our district every day. Without their contributions, our schools and our district could not function. From this exceptional group of employees, Joseph Bremgartner, Associate Superintendent of Human Resources, announced this year's recipient of the 2018 FUSD Classified Employee of the Year award, Heather Castillo, Senior Secretary II at Kaiser High School.
“Heather is a servant leader,” said Mr. Bremgartner. “She never asks anyone to do a task she herself cannot do. If anyone has a request or question not in her job description she will help them find the resources or the person to contact. She even follows up later with calls to make sure the question was answered. Heather works diligently with the parents and the community members that come on campus. She can always be seen welcoming families with ultimate compassion and open ears as we work with the families to provide them with the best options. Heather works hard and is an ultimate team player when reaching out to all stakeholders and stakeholder events. The office would not be able to run without her.”
Categories for recognition were designated by the San Bernardino County Schools, based on the State recognition program. Nominees for winners of the Classified Employees of the Year recognition were determined jointly by the classified employees' union, United Steel Workers and Classified Human Resources department.
The category winners were also recognized at the Board Meeting:
