Meet Dr. Roy Rogers, Principal of Southridge Middle School

Roy Rogers

At the June 21, 2017 meeting of the FUSD Board of Education, the Board approved Roy Rogers at the new Principal of Southridge Middle School.

Dr. Rogers is a native of the Inland Empire who grew up in Moreno Valley, California. After his graduation from Moreno Valley High School, he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in English from California State University of San Bernardino. Since the completion of his Bachelor’s degree, he has earned a Master of Arts degree in Education, with an emphasis in Instruction and Curriculum, a Master of Science degree in Education with an emphasis in Administrative Leadership, and a Doctorate degree in Education, with emphasis in K-12 Education.

Dr. Rogers believes that teaching is more than a job — it is a profession that can change a person's destiny. He became an educator because he wants to make a difference in the lives of others. He shared that his mentor always told him, “A successful man is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks others have thrown at him.” As a result, he purposes to combine his range of experience and received support to make a positive contribution to those he serves.

He began his teaching career in San Bernardino City Unified School District and has served as a WASC Coordinator, English Department Chair, Academic Coach, and Behavior Support Provider. For the past three years, Dr. Rogers has served as an Assistant Principal for San Bernardino City Unified School District.
