Meet Sandra Loudermilk, Principal of Date
At the June 6, 2018 meeting of the FUSD Board of Education, the Board approved Sandra Loudermilk as the new Principal of Date Elementary School.
Ms. Loudermilk was born in Mexico City, Mexico. “I came to the US when I was 7 and grew up in Temple City,” she said. Although, she did attend Fontana High School in her junior year when her family moved briefly to Fontana.
She worked as a bilingual aide at Locust Elementary School, while continuing her education at Chaffey Community College. “I became an educator because of the amazing teachers and principal al Locust,” she said. “They also reminded of my 6th grade teacher who also challenged me to go beyond the grade level expectations.” After just 6 months at Locust, she changed her major from Hotel and Restaurant Management to Liberal Studies.
Ms. Loudermilk continued her education at Cal State University, San Bernardino where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies, a Reading Certificate, and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership.
She has worked as an elementary teacher, reading specialist, and intervention teacher at the district level. “I became an assistant principal and quickly was given the opportunity to lead a school as the principal, she continued. “I have been a principal for 5 years.”
“I have contemplated returning to Fontana for a while now and since being offered a position in the district, I cannot stop thinking about what an exciting change this will be,” said Ms. Loudermilk. “I can't wait to reconnect with any people who may still work in the district and to bring my knowledge to make positive changes to whichever school I am fortunate to lead.”
"I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family," she said. "This summer we have a trip planned to Hawaii and we're still going even though the volcano is exploding. We like adventure. I also like to be spontaneous."
