Message From Our Principal
Dear Beech Avenue Families:
I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to you. The 2020-2021 school year was certainly a challenge, yet one theme emerged more clearly than ever: the Beech Avenue Elementary School Community is most definitely a powerful team!
COVID-19 changed the entire face of school, and I watched our school community continue to thrive. Our staff, students, and families demonstrated the true meaning of togetherness even from a distance. We stood united as we learned new tools, new procedures, and most importantly, new ways to stay connected.
We are excited to welcome our students back for in person instruction this year! We address you as families because we want our school to be an extension of your family. We want to serve you in times of joy, happiness, and triumph, but also in times of challenge, grief, and struggle. Academic learning and growth are our bottom line, yet we also understand that educating students means being attentive to all of their unique needs including social and emotional well-being.
With that, I challenge you, Beech Avenue families, to take an active role in your child’s education. A positive home-school connection will benefit us all. We need to work together to ensure that your child not only grows academically, but also works each day toward becoming the best person he/she can be. Our team models and teaches the six-pillars of character each day so that we can all be TeRRiFfiCC (Trustworthy, Respectful, Responsible, Fair, Caring, and Good Citizens). I am a firm believer that these traits will go a long way in ensuring the success of your child. Therefore, we will actively monitor these attributes closely.
Remember that positive school attendance remains more important than ever. School is in session from 7:45 a.m. to 2:20 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesdays are our minimum day and students are dismissed at 11:50 a.m. This allows us to refine our skills and plan together. We ask that you attempt to schedule appointments outside of school hours to the extent possible.
COVID-19 has made it necessary to be stricter with our policies regarding illness. We ask for your cooperation to ensure the safety of our students and staff by keeping your child home if they are ill. We will work with you to recover absences and to recognize excellence in this area.
We are here to support you! We cannot solve problems we don't know about, so continue to communicate. It is our goal to make this as easy as we can for you. Please be sure to download the Parent Square app, as this will become our primary method for communicating with you at the district, site, and classroom levels.
We are a place of learning, belonging, growth, and support for students, families, and community. We anticipate a remarkable year of learning! Thank you for all that you do to make us the best! Let us know how we can help make your experience even better! You are valued and appreciated.
