Graduation and College Admission Requirements

Subject FUSD Requirements  California State University (CSU) University of California (UC)
    Fifteen yearlong college preparatory courses from approved "a-g" list are required.
      11 UC required college preparatory "a-g" courses must be completed prior to senior year (including summer courses)
"a" |  History/Social Science World History: 10 Credits
U.S. History: 10 Credits
American Government:  5 Credits
Economics:  5 Credits
Two years of History/Social Science, including one year of U.S. History OR one semester of U.S. History and one semester of American Government, AND....
One year of History/Social Science from either the "a" or "g" subject area One year of World History, Cultures and Geography from the "a" subject area
"b" |  English 40 Credits Four years of college preparatory English Composition/Literature (including no more than one year of Advanced ESL/ELD courses)
"c" |  Mathematics Algebra I or higher:  10 Credits
Geometry or higher:  10 Credits
Three years of mathematics (Algebra I or II, Geometry), four years recommended **
"d" |  Laboratory Science Life Science: 10 Credits
Physical Science: 10 Credits
Two years of laboratory science
At least one year of Physical Science and one year of Biological Science, one from the "d" subject area and the other from the "d" or "g" area *** Must include at least two of the three foundational subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics; both courses must be from the "d" subject area; three years recommended
"e" |  Language Other Than English 10 Credits
Two years of language other than English (must be the same language, American Sign Language accepted) **
  Three years recommended
"f" |  Visual and Performing Arts One yearlong course in Visual and Performing Arts (selected from Dance, Music, Theatre/Drama and Visual Arts)
Career Technical Education, which includes ROP  
"g" |  Electives 90 Credits One year of a College Preparatory Elective chosen from any area on approved "a-g" course list
Physical Education 20 Credits    
    Note:  Numerous Career Technical Education courses are approved for fulfillment of "a-g" subject requirements
Honor Points   Maximum of eight extra grade points awarded for approved honors, Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate courses and transferable college courses.  No more than two yearlong courses taken in 10th grade can earn honor points.
Required GPA and Tests Passing CAHSEE in Math and English Language Arts Minimum GPA: 2.5

** Coursework completed in 7th or 8th grade can be used to satisfy "c" and "e" requirements.
*** It is best to prepare for both the UC and the CSU by completing two laboratory courses from the "d" subject area.

9-12 Minimum Credits Required to be on Track

  • 9th Grade: 60 credits
  • 10th Grade: 120 credits
  • 11th Grade: 180 credits
  • 12th Grade: 230 credits

Required for Graduation

Progress Reports and Report Cards

  • Progress reports are issued mid-quarter
  • Quarter grades are reported mid-semester
  • Semester grades, which are permanent and recorded onto the transcripts, are reported in December and May
  • Parents please sign-up for Zangle ParentConnect and monitor the progress of your child's grades

Deficient in Credits

  • See your Academic Pathway Advisor to create a plan for credit recovery
  • See your Guidance Technician to update your 4-year plan

Other Routes to Finishing School

  • Transfer to Citrus Continuation High School
  • 18 year olds, who are not on track with grades, attendance or behavior may be dropped and encouraged to enroll in Adult Education

Additional Important Information

  • Graduation is a privilege. Education Code 44811 gives administration the authority to withhold graduation ceremony from any student.
