Sun Bucks

SUN Bucks is a permanent program that helps families with school-age children buy groceries during the summer months when kids might not have access to school meals. The California Department of Social Services is the lead agency implementing the program, in partnership with the California Department of Education. For more information, please visit: SUN Bucks

Eligibility is determined based on qualifying in one of two ways:

  • Automatic - Households with children ages 6-18 who receive SNAP, TANF, CalFresh, CalWORKs, or Approved Medi-Cal. Students who receive any of these benefits will be automatically enrolled in SUN Bucks and mailed a card from Cal EBT. You do not have to fill out a Universal Benefits Application (UBA).

OR

  • Income - Apply by filling out the UBA. This is for those who may qualify based on income. See USDA Income Eligibility below.
    • Students must attend a Fontana Unified School District (FUSD) school participating in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the School Breakfast Program (SBP).

Before completing the online UBA, please review the USDA Income eligibility guidelines as not all students may be eligible.
Please note that UBA’s are subject to review and may be selected for verification.
Once eligibility has been determined, you will receive a notice of eligibility informing you of the status.

Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English.

To file a program discrimination complaint, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, AD-3027, found online at How to File a Program Discrimination Complaint and at any USDA office or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form. To request a copy of the complaint form, call (866) 632-9992. Submit your completed form or letter to USDA by:
