HBCU College Tour

It’s time to get ready for our annual HBCU College Tour! 

During Spring Break (March 22–27, 2026), the Fontana Unified School District will sponsor up to 30 high school students for an exciting opportunity to tour Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and visit historic sites across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. This fully supervised trip will include FUSD staff and professional guides from On A Mission Youth Travel. ALL travel, hotel, and meal costs for participating students will be covered by the District. 

As we started last year, the application is now on a Microsoft Form. Below is the Application Process. 
Students must submit: 

• A letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or administrator. 
• A short video (maximum 3 minutes) explaining why they wish to attend the HBCU Tour. 
• Both the letter and video must be uploaded within the application form. 

All current juniors and seniors are eligible to apply, though priority will be given to juniors. Students who participated in last year’s HBCU College Tour are not eligible. Selected students may be expected to share their experience with peers and staff upon return. 

Important Dates 

• Application Deadline: December 22, 2025 
• Notification of Selection: Students will be notified by January 20, 2026 

Additional Information 

• Applying does not guarantee selection. 
• Applications must be submitted using the student’s FUSD email. 
• Finalists may be invited to an interview before final selections are made.
