Cal KIDS
Free College Savings for California Students
CalKIDS provides eligible California newborns and public‑school students with a free scholarship account to help pay for college or career training.
All children born in California on or after July 1, 2022 receive a CalKIDS scholarship automatically, and eligible public‑school students may receive additional funds.
How to Claim Your Child’s Funds
Visit CalKIDS.org and enter:
- Newborns: Local Registration Number from the birth certificate.
- Students: Statewide Student Identifier (SSID) from your child’s school.
How the Funds Can Be Used
CalKIDS money can be used for tuition, books, supplies, room and board, and computer equipment at accredited colleges, universities, community colleges, and vocational programs.

Apply for College Financial Aid
In accordance with the AB 469 requirement under California Education Code Section 51225.7, FUSD is required to confirm that ALL high school seniors complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act Application (CADAA). Students may alternatively complete an opt-out form. All opt-out forms must be turned in to and retained at your high school.
