Vision

The California State Seal of Civic Engagement reflects Fontana Unified School District’s belief that students are powerful agents of change. Through this recognition, FUSD celebrates students who use their voice, knowledge, and leadership to positively impact their schools and communities while preparing for college, career, and civic life.

State Seal Purpose

The purpose of the California State Seal of Civic Engagement is to honor high school graduates who demonstrate a strong commitment to civic responsibility. Students who earn the Seal show meaningful participation in civic learning, community engagement, and problem-solving around real-world issues. These skills that are essential for leadership, lifelong learning, and active participation in our democracy.

Civic Learning Definition

The California State Seal of Civic Engagement is a state-recognized distinction awarded on a student’s diploma and transcript. It recognizes students who have completed a locally developed civic engagement pathway, demonstrating civic knowledge, skills, and action through coursework, service, leadership, reflection, and community involvement.
