Mr. Mullins

Mr. Mullins was born and raised in Fontana and attended North Tamarind and Live Oak Elementary Schools, Fontana Junior High and Fontana High School. During elementary school, his family moved to Washington state and he attended 6th-9th grade there but he returned half-way through 9th grade and finished his school years as a Fohi Steeler.

After graduation, he attended Cal Poly Pomona where he earned a B.A. and Teacher Credential and Cal State San Bernardino where he earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration.

“Growing up I actually wanted to be a writer,” said Mr. Mullins. “When I saw injustices in the world I wanted to expose them through writing. Going to college I began to expand that idea and got interested in teaching writing and literature. I wanted to spread my love of the written word through teaching. Working in Fontana is where I had the greatest connection to the kids.”

Mr. Mullins began his career at Fontana Unified School District in 1994. "I taught 7th grade language arts for 8 years at Alder Middle School and have been Assistant Principal at Redwood, Tokay, and Canyon Crest Elementary Schools, then Principal at Hemlock Elementary for 7 years before going to Southridge where I served as principal for 6 years before returning "home" to elementary.

"I really missed my 'little friends'," he continued. "They would make me laugh every day and I look forward to that once again! Having the perspective of where they need to be for middle school will give me good insight for setting learning goals for all our little "Panthers!"
