Ms. Fleming was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario - Canada. She attended Nipissing University where she earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees (Honors Sociology and Education) and graduate studies in Special Education and Secondary Instruction. When she came to the United States, she earned a Reading Certificate from UCLA and an additional Master of Arts degree from California State University, Fresno. "I knew at a very young age that I was interested in the teaching profession," she said. "In fact, I don't recall any other career path that interested me. The idea of working with children, offering them the skills needed to be successful in life, is both appealing and rewarding to those of us wishing to be part of the community in which we live and serve. I can't think of a better way to spend each and every day." She has been a teacher in Canada, Anguilla (British West Indies), Auckland (New Zealand), and the United States. Since coming to the Fontana Unified School District, Ms. Fleming has been a Classroom Teacher, Reading First Coach, Instructional Support Teacher, Teacher-on-Assignment, and Coordinator of Elementary Instruction. Ms. Fleming has been the Principal of Juniper Elementary School since 2014. |
