Early Education Programs
The Fontana Unified School District offers different Early Education Programs to meet the individual needs of your child including State Preschool and Infant/Toddler Care. Each Early Education Program is a comprehensive early education program focusing on physical, cognitive and social-emotional growth of your child.

State Preschool Enrollment Process
Due to COVID-19 the State Preschool Enrollment process has changed to comply with stay home orders and to practice social distancing. The process for enrolling into the 2020-21 State Preschool Program include:
- Make an online appointment to complete pre-enrollment* by clicking on the orange “Online Appointment” button and submitting the requested information. On the day of your appointment you will get a call from the FUSD Enrollment Center to provide basic family and student information and to select a school, preschool teacher and session.
- Before school starts in August 2020, you will receive a notice to complete the Preschool Enrollment. At this time, you will need to submit a completed:

State Preschool
The California State Preschool Program (CSPP) offers part-day developmentally appropriate preschool instruction for eligible three and four yearold children at 1 high school and 25 elementary school sites throughout the city of Fontana.

State Preschool Age Eligibility
Your child’s birthday must be between December 3, 2015 to December 1, 2017. If your child turns 3 after December 1, they must wait until their 3rd birthday to start preschool.

Eligibility Criteria for State Preschool
There are different eligibility criteria for families to participate in the California State Preschool Program. A family needs to be eligible in ONE criterion. Criteria include:
- Household Income & Family Size Eligibility (Click Here for Income Eligibility Chart)
- 80% or Greater Free and Reduced Lunch Elementary School Eligibility
- Child will have 4th Birthday on or before December 1st
- Family must live in one of the following school boundaries
Almond, Beech, C. Crest, Citrus, Cypress, Date, Juniper, Live Oak, Locust, Mango, Maple, N. Tamarind, Oak Park, Palmetto, Poplar, Porter, Randall-Pepper, Redwood, Shadow Hills, S. Tamarind, Tokay and West Randall
- Student has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Eligibility
*Students will be enrolled in priority order established by CDE guidelines

Enrollment into State Preschool
Enrollments are completed at FUSD District Enrollment Center (located at 9548 Citrus Avenue, Bldg. A in Fontana - across the street from Fontana High School). Enrollment Packets are available at the Enrollment Center or can be downloaded online (link to packet or section)
Please be sure to select the correct service when clicking for an online appointment, so you receive the correct timeframe. If there is an error, we will do our best to contact you and reschedule. Walk-ins are welcome from 7:30 am – 11:30 am, and again at 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm. You can schedule an appointment by clicking the orange button.

What are the Goals of the Program?
- Promote self-esteem by exposing children to a multicultural curriculum.
- Enhance the child's physical, social, cognitive and emotional development.
- Develop creativity and self-expression.
- Develop independence by allowing children to make their own choices.
- Encourage problem solving by providing a variety of learning experiences.

- Learn to share and get along with other children.
- Learn to follow directions.
- Acquire language experiences through stories, art, music, and drama.
- Acquire math concepts through counting, measuring, waterplay, and grouping.
- Acquire science and social studies concepts through experiments and art.

Cost:
The State Preschool Program is funded by a state grant. The grant requires the district to prioritize family needs according to income. The program is free to eligible families.

Immunization Requirements for Preschool Students:
