Dear Fontana Unified community,
On June 10, the Fontana Unified Board of Education adopted a resolution unequivocally condemning all acts of racism, as well as all acts of brutality, racial profiling and the use of excessive force by law enforcement.
Fontana Unified School District, which proudly represents and serves a diverse population, stands for equality and opportunity for all.
As a public institution in California, it is our responsibility to discuss, oppose, and vocally advocate against hatred and violence. As educators, it is our responsibility to ensure our students receive the opportunity to pursue their academic dreams in an open, healthy and supportive environment, free from fear because of who they are, how they look or what they believe.
With this resolution, we add our voice to the growing number of those who condemn these acts, call for accountability of those who engage in them and urge the adoption of sound and unbiased law enforcement policies.
The Fontana School Police Department will continue to conduct fair and equitable policing, through partnerships and programs that provide counseling and socio-emotional services, support at-risk youth, and more.
Fontana Unified stands with you, our community, as you exercise your rights through peaceful protest and supports you in your efforts to achieve racial equality. The District will continue to collaborate with our stakeholders to ensure accountability in these efforts; to further foster a culture of diversity and inclusion; to celebrate the contributions and perspectives of the African American community.
Let us take this opportunity to reflect and take action towards the destination of equality for our students, our community and beyond.
