Boys Water Polo Continues Dominance Over the San Andreas League

Another Fall season sees the Steelers Boys Water Polo program extend their dominance over the San Andreas League. With a 12-0 league season, the Boys have stretched their consecutive League Champions streak to five io a row, and six titles in their last seven seasons. They are also riding a 31-game win streak in League play. Their 21-9 overall record put them in the CIF-SS Division 5 Playoffs where they defeated Paloma Valley before falling to a tough Xavier Prep team in the second round.

Led by Senior San Andreas League Offensive MVP Andrew Zubiate (the 3rd Zubiate brother to earn League MVP honors) and Sophomore Defensive MVP Jonathan Lopez, the team dominated league play by not allowing any opponent to come within five goals. Sophomore Goalie David Contreras and Freshman Utility Player Matthew Zubiate also earned 1st Team All-League honors, while Sophomore Matthew Ramirez earned Honorable Mention status.

Under the leadership of Coach Spencer "OC" Fernandes, they have continued to build on the foundations forged by the Fernandes Siblings as they have helmed our program for over a decade. There is a great deal expected of next year's version of Steelers Water Polo as they only lose 3 seniors and return a bevy of stand-out lower-classmen. Time for the "young-ins" to get back to work, for as Coach Fernandes is fond of saying, "Don't TALK about it. BE about it."
