Boys Cross Country Advances to CIF Prelims and Micah Watson takes a shot at CIF Finals
The Boys Cross Country team put together a solid season that had them within striking distance of another league title at League Finals. Unfortunately, they were just edged out of the top spot by Rim of the World. Second place still qualified them to compete in the CIF-SS Prelims at Mt. SAC. They finished in the top half of their heat, but it wasn't enough to get the whole team on to CIF-SS Finals the next week.
Individual runner Micah Watson (Junior) managed to finish 2nd overall in the heat and that gave him the opportunity to move on as an individual in the Boys Division 1 race. While he bested his personal time from a week before, he ended up a bit too far back in what turned out to be an incredibly fast race. While Micah was unable to move on to CIF State Finals, we are all quite proud of his accomplishments in his first ever season running Cross Country.
Look for Coach Gricelda Chavez and her staff to put together another competitive boys squad next season, while also building a Girls squad that missed qualifying for Pre-lims by one place in league. Both squads are looking to get back to the top of the Sunkist League pack next season.
