Dear Canyon Crest Family,
As the principal at Canyon Crest Elementary School, I am honored to have the opportunity to serve our school community alongside an incredible team of teachers, staff members, students, and parents. It is through our combined efforts of integrating 21st century skills that we will successfully equip our students to become college/career ready and ultimately globally competitive. We have been diligently working towards better preparing students for college, career and life by embedding critical 21st century competencies into the learning environment for the last few years and continue to pilot new strategies and initiatives that align with these goals. Incorporating the 4C's: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity is integral to our practice and ultimately our success. We are especially proud of our most recent recognition of being one of 18 schools in the nation to become a designated 21st century exemplar school. We had the opportunity to be recognized in Washington D.C. last April,2019.
By exposing students to relevant, hands on opportunities across content areas, students will continue to develop their natural curiosity as they learn that failure and perseverance is part of the learning process.
I look forward to sharing more with you about how these strategies will build your student’s critical thinking skills and ability to succeed. Please attend one of the upcoming parent workshops or parent meetings to learn how you can further support your student at home using the same strategies.
I eagerly anticipate the participation of family members in supporting our students. Be assured that my door is always open, and I welcome your ideas. You are invited to stop by my office to say hello and share your ideas about how Canyon Crest Elementary can best serve your child.
I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful community. I look forward to an incredible 2021-2022 school year!
Kelly Wilbert, Ed.D.
